What was the last thing that made you cry?

The movie Red Dog just last night - animals dying in films gets me every damn time. 

What chore do you absolutely hate doing?
I don't actually do many chores. It's 'highly recommended' to me that I give my bedroom a thorough cleaning at least once every 3 months, which basically means that my room gets striped, everything is dusted and every corner is vacuumed. 

What is your favourite form of exercise?
Walking, generally with my dog tagging along. 

What is your current desktop picture?
It's a collection of all the Lifescouts badges I've collected, Lifescouts being the adult version of boy/girl scouts . If you're interested in what Lifescouts is take a look here.

Pieces of advice you have for aspiring authors.

Books are judged by their covers, so make sure you have a good one. Thoroughly plan out you story - make sure you have a timeline for the plot, fully flesh out your characters, choose the right setting - get all the small details right. Also, seek advice - from other authors, editors, publishers, friends, family - from anyone you can get to read your book!

Favourite TV show when you were younger?
There were so many. The first ones that come to mind are Spongebob Squarepants, Dexter's Laboratory, The Powerpuff Girls and Arthur . 

What would we find if we looked under your bed?
Nothing - there's no room for anything under my bed, it only sits a couple of centimetres above the floor. 

Book store or Library?
Book store - everything is so nice and new there. 

Heads or Tails?
Tails.

I can't live without...

Coffee! Seriously, I can't get through uni without at least one cup of coffee 

Do you make your bed each morning?
Nope, I can't be bothered. 

Country or City?
City! I really don't think I could handle living in the country, at least not at this time.  
Most embarrassing moment?
Oh there are so many. One time my maxi dress got stuck in an escalator, and the only friend I was with had to leave me to get centre management. It felt like FOREVER before she got back. While she was gone three people stopped to try to help me, but my dress really wasn't going to move. 

What do you think of book trailers?
I find that I tend to watch book trailers after I've started reading the book, usually because the book is so darn good that I'm interested to see the trailer.

Is there anything you would like to say to or ask your favourite author?

Whilst I'm having trouble deciding who exactly my favourite author is, I would love to know how they come up with the ideas for their stories. Some stories I read are just so freaking amazing, I'd just love to know where some authors draw inspiration for their characters, the world's they create, etc. 

Are you a dreamer or a realist?
I think everyone likes to dream, but I know that my dreams (the latest of which is owning the entire wardrobe from Gossip Girl) are just never going to happen, so I'd have to say realist. 

Theater or Rental?
The theater is so much nicer. If it's a movie I really want to see, I'll try to see it at the cinema, but if I can't, then I'll make an effort to rent it. Besides that, I don't rent movies much. 

Share a family tradition.
Over the last couple of years, its become tradition for my brother and I to spend Christmas eve and Christmas morning with our dad, stepmum and younger brother. He's only 2 and a half years old, so it's great to see him open his presents in the morning. Then, we spend Christmas day with our mum. 

Favourite late night snack?
Chocolate!

Top 5 songs on your playlist?

At the moment, I'm listening to: Drinking from the Bottle by Calvin Harris, Troublemaker by Olly Murs, Thrift Shop by Macklemore, I Knew You Were Trouble by Taylor Swift and Wings by Little Mix. 

How much time do you spend reading it week?
It fluctuates a lot. Usually I try to read for at least 30 mins - 1 hour per day, sometimes more if I'm not busy or the book is really interesting. 

What was the last thing you Googled?
I just searched for information about Pride and Prejudice  - I'm obsessed with the Lizzie Bennet Diaries webseries on YouTube, and I just wanted some extra information.  

Favourite places to travel?
I don't really travel, so pretty much anywhere is good.

What is your favourite way to spend a rainy day?
Wearing something comfy at home while reading and watching TV.

I think I'd be too lazy to be bothered, to be honest.

Are you a fast or slow reader? (you can test your reading speed here)
According to the test, I'm above average, but I think it depends on the book. I can fly through a good book quite quickly, whereas others may take me a little longer to read.

Fanfiction - love it or hate it? Have you ever read/written it?
I tend to stay away from fanfiction. I did read some a couple of years ago, but only because a friend sent it to me and wanted my opinion on it.  

Summer or Winter?
Summer.

Truth or Dare?
Truth. I don't think I've ever picked dare in a game of Truth or Dare.

Most recently, it's BRB. I don't know why I don't just say be right back, I just say BRB instead. I spend too much time on my computer...

Ooooohh maybe I'd go with some Thai Green Curry. Love that stuff.

One Jack Russel Terrier named Sam.

Both! I tend to only use my Twitter for my blog, whereas Facebook is for keeping in touch with friends and family.

Favourite restaurant?

I don't think I visit restaurants often enough to have a favourite. Any Italian or Thai restaurant is perfect for me.  

What is your view on self publishing?
I think it's fine, although I don't think I read many (if any) self published books.

How do you feel about banned books? Do you have a favourite?
I honestly don't have an opinion, probably because I've never thought about it before. I've never heard about book banning at my local library, and I don't remember hearing anything about it when I was in primary and secondary school. My parents have never restricted which books I am allowed to read, but then again, I don't think I ever chose to read books that weren't age appropriate for me. Since I haven't thought about banned books before, I don't have a favourite.

Are you for or against books being made into movies?
I think it's great - as long as it's done right. 

Top 3 things on your bucket list?
Travel all around the world
Graduate from university with the prospect of being able to get a good job
Get out and about more - I'm too much of a homebody

Do you like the spotlight or lurking in the shadows?

Definitely a shadow lurker...I've always preferred being behind the scenes as opposed to on the stage. 

How many books are on your TBR pile?
The TBR list I keep is getting pretty long, now that I constantly add books to it. It's about 260 books long at the moment, but for every book I read I probably add at least 10 more to my TBR list. I also have about 1,700 ebooks.

What is next on your to read list?
I really, really, really want to get onto reading City of Bones by Cassandra Clare and Divergent by Veronica Roth. 

What one item would you eat for the rest of your life?
Spaghetti Bolognese. 

What is the last thing you bought?
I bought a really cute pink and white dress and a grey skirt from boohoo.com.

This is my first time participating in this meme! I discovered this meme exactly one year ago, where Inspired Kathy had just posted these holiday themed questions and had announced that Know Me Better was taking a break. A year later, its back, and it's time for me to get involved!

This weeks questions are...

Red or Green?
Definitely green, it's my favourite colour.

Favourite Christmas Carol?
Hmm I'm not really sure. Although, I do find myself singing Jingle Bells quite a bit around Christmas time.

What do you want for Christmas?
Usually I don't have anything I specifically want for Christmas, but I know that this year I want money so I can go out and buy some books. I don't know how it happened, but my TBR list has quadrupled in size in the past couple of weeks alone!

Favourite Holiday Treat?
Gingerbread. I can't get enough gingerbread.

Favourite Holiday Tradition?
This isn't a tradition yet, but I suspect it's likely to become one in future years. My youngest brother is 2 and a half years old now, so he's at the stage where he kinda understand Christmas and Santa and presents. My older brother and I have spent Christmas Eve at my dads for the past two years, which has involved staying up late to put together various presents (this year I've been told we'll be putting together a swing set and a trampoline). I can't wait to see how he reacts on Christmas morning.
